Meet the Speakers
Stephen A. Betts, CPA '81
Stephen received his bachelor's degree in Accounting in December 1981. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and sole practitioner with over 34 years accounting, financial, business experience. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Illinois CPA Society. Stephen's areas of practice include corporate and individual taxation.
Linda Campbell '81, MA '12
Linda is a Graduate Admission Counselor with Lewis University. She works primarily with the College of Education master’s programs and assists those individuals transitioning back to academia either as career changers or to continue their current education path by providing a seamless transition throughout the application process through admission into the program. Linda graduated from Lewis University with a bachelor’s degree in Art and Journalism and a master’s in Organizational Leadership. Linda worked in Records and Registration at Moraine Valley Community College and before that she spent eight years as a substitute teacher in the Palos Consolidated School District #118.
Mary Myers
Mary Myers is the Executive Director for Lewis University Career Services. In this role, Mary manages the comprehensive career center while developing external relationships with the employer community. She works with constituents within the University to maximize internship opportunities and assist students with developing essential job search skills. Prior to Lewis, Mary was the Director of Campus and Employer Relations for Northern Illinois University Career Services Department. Before NIU, Mary was the Waubonsee Community College Career Services Manager and Internship Coordinator. Mary has managed grant funded projects including Eliminate the Digital Divide grant for computer training, the Employment Skills Program for a regional homeless shelter, and the Illinois Cooperative Work Study Internship program. Mary holds a MS degree in Adult and Higher Education from Northern Illinois University and a BS degree in Textiles, Clothing, and Merchandising from the University of Kentucky.
William Parker, CIMA®
Bill is an Investment Consultant with DiMeo Schneider & Associates, LLC in Chicago, IL. In this role, he provides investment consulting services to nonprofit organizations, corporate executives, family trusts and other substantial investors. Prior to joining the firm in 2011, Bill was a Senior Associate in the Sales & Service division of Northern Trust Global Investments where he was responsible for both institutional and wealth client relationships. Earlier in his career, Bill held positions on the trading floors of both the New York Stock Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade. He earned a B.A. in Philosophy & Political Science from Fordham University, a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Lewis University, and a Master of Science in Finance (MSF) from Lewis University. He is a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) and completed the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) accreditation program at the Wharton School of Business. In their spare time, Bill and his wife Katie (also a Lewis alum) try to keep up with their two boys Will and Quinn.
Lisa Petrik
Since grade school, Lisa has been perfecting her skills in sales. A born entrepreneur with a passion for success, Lisa started a candy store from her locker in the 7th grade and was making hundreds in profit within the first couple weeks. Lisa is known to exceed her clients' expectations, every time. With a bachelor's degree in marketing from Elmhurst College, an associate's degree in air traffic control from Lewis University and a certification in psychotherapy, she is in tune with what it takes to achieve her goals. Lisa uses meditation as a way to stay effective and maintain balance in the fast pace and high energy world of real estate. Lisa's fun loving, calm and charming demeanor makes her one of the most sought after real estate agents in the city.
Tamika Thompson
Tamika Thompson founded and established MCM Professional Resume Writing Services in September 2013. Having the opportunity work at several Fortune 500 companies including Microsoft and Comcast Corporation, Tamika developed a genuine passion and appetite for helping and mentoring others to achieve professional success. Credentialed with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism with a double minor in Marketing for Communications and Print Journalism from Lewis University, 5+ years’ writing experience including serving as a staff writer for “The Flyer” newspaper, a content creator for "LUTN", and an intern at Lakeshore Public Television, she envisioned an entity dedicated to aiding others in their career advancement. Tamika is currently pursuing her Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing at Keller Graduate School of Management and is originally from Chicago.
Kelsey Zimmermann
Kelsey Zimmermann is an agent who joined Liberty Mutual Insurance in 2015. She graduated from College of Charleston with a degree in Marine Biology. She serves clients in Chicago, Northwest Suburbs, and Western Suburbs area and is involved with volunteering at PAWS Chicago and St. Alphonsus Church. Kelsey enjoys getting to know her customers and their unique situation, needs and personal circumstances and by working personally with them to recommend coverage levels and options customized for each life-stage.
